Code Geass R2 — Episode 17

Code Geass R2

I don’t have time to blog much about this episode. Not that there’s much to blog about. It’s just the chickens coming home to roost. Poor Lelouch. He is so misunderstood. :(

Summary

Code Geass R2
Her boobs grew bigger

The new United Federation of Nations launches an attack on Area 11. Nothing really interesting happens. Knight of One has Excalibur, which he totally stole from Suzaku’s cat.

Code Geass R2
“No Suzaku! Someone might see us here…”

Yet another misunderstanding widens the colossal gap between Lelouch and Suzaku, driving the two former lovers farther apart. When everything comes to an end, will they once again find warmth in the embrace of each other? Or will the cruel spike walls of conservative Britannian society prevent their deviant feelings from becoming reality? Stay tune to find out.

Code Geass R2
Kallen, your time will soon be here!

Zino (or however his name is spelt) is apparently related to the Ashfords? He’s also being particularly friendly to Kallen… Looks like he has some other agenda than his obligations as a Knight of the Round. My guess is that he will go against the will of the Emperor and fight to realize the dream of his beloved Suzaku. He probably has some super awesome Knightmare Frame stashed away under Ashford Academy which he will lend to Kallen for great justice!

Code Geass R2
“Oh yes, don’t worry bro. I’ll ‘save’ her…”

And oh yeah, Lelouch assigned Rollo to lead Nunnally’s rescue mission. Uh, wtf? He has clearly forgotten about what happened to Shirley. Good bye Nunnally, you were the least annoying of all the lolis, although Kagura can be awesome sometimes.

Thoughts

Meh. Maybe next time.

  1. SnooSnoo says:

I loved those Power Rangers captions. Next episode will be great!

  2. kamui says:

whatever code geass throws, this blog stays funny

  3. LianYL says:

So this is why you didn’t play TF2 today for the first time.

  4. Kresnik says:

I wonder how they would end this show. Introducing new characters one after another.. >_>

  5. df6wen says:

Possibly Suzaku, Gino, and Anya pilot will all switch sides.

  6. blue says:

It’s as if before the meeting, Lelouch had wondered “If in any event our conversation is recorded, what should I say that will put me in the worst possible light?” Would be interesting to know why he lied, though. And it was probably necessary so the Black Knights wouldn’t look entirely stupid once they find out and overthrow him.

C.C wants a ring… :D (and she will get one)

  7. Black says:

Looks like Prince Schneizel will win the war and the Emperor and Lelouch most likely killing each other off. :(

Prince Schneizel will most likely reap those benefits after Emperor and Lelouch got all their allies killed. :(

But no, i don’t want lelouch to die and the story to end that way. Though i think it most likely will end with the downfall of lelouch. :(

And oh great, Suzaku going after Lelouch and Lelouch without Kallen as his bodyguard. Not going to forgive Suzaku if he ever kills Lelouch.

Rolo most likely going on a killing spree. just kidding.

  8. Rahvin says:

    It was a nice episode.
Haha, sending Rolo to save Nunnally?

  9. Amnestic says:

Knight of One has Excalibur, which he totally stole from Suzaku’s cat.

What happens when the Unstoppable Force (Excalibur) hits the Immovable Object (Shinkirou’s shield)? ;o

    Wait, what?

The smile seemed oddly old C.C. I’m intrigued, excited, and a little apprehensive all at the same time.

My guess is Rolo is the grunt force which’ll get peppered with bullets, *possibly* saved, barely, by Rolo’s geass, whereas Sayoko is the real infiltration and rescue agent.

  10. blue says:

The smile seemed oddly old C.C. I’m intrigued, excited, and a little apprehensive all at the same time.

Yes, C.C faking the whole thing would be the best twist ever. (Lol notice they were playing her old theme. They did it too in the last episode, but here it sort of adds suspicion.) Although if ever she’s just acting, it had better not be just for the lulz.

  11. Orange says:

R2 has some serious pacing problems (mainly because the slow pace of R1 and the addition of useless characters in R2) leading to a lack of consistent character development (what does Rolo really think about the whole Nunnally rescue mission is bugging me). While the confrontation between Lelouch and Suzaku was far from being as shitty as the one the boy had with his father back in ep15, they could have made it a lot more intense. As expected, Bismarck and Galahad are godly, putting a lot of pressure on Xingke with little to no effort. Guilford loyalty for Cornelia seems to transcend all kind of logics :(, Lelouch really came with touchy-risky orders lastly. And unless Schneizel intends to make use of Ragnarok and being responsible for the murder of Marianne, I’ll have trouble to see him as the final foe if he were to become it.

  12. zelknight says:

I am really rooting for Nunnaly as Rolo’s sister and Anya as Lelouch’s real sister XD That Korean spoiler really seemed very true and has basis as well like Rolo not wanting to give up the locket or making others even touch it (even killing those who managed to touch the locket).

One thing though, the FREYA is not a nuke or a bomb. I think it is somewhat an ultra-improved Varis with collapse effect that looks like a normal short rifle without the long barrel. It’s equipped beneath the Lancelot. I do not believe the 10M people dying from that one unless they make a really big nuke housed inside avalon (a bomb using the destructive power of the freya) or a big version of the Freya, replacing the hadron cannons of the Avalon.

  13. Amnestic says:

replacing the hadron cannons of the Avalon.

The Avalon has Hadron cannons? I thought the ones they used were the ones on the Gawain prototype?

  14. Gorillaz4vr says:

I really liked this episode, it starts the epicness of code geass. I can’t wait to see what Suzaku will do. And yes Rolo will do something stupid to screw it all up….

  15. 54384753289 says:

Guilford thinks Lelouch is Cornelia… Lelouch is gonna get raped

Nunally is gonna die too, and Lelouch is gonna go emo again

  16. lawlcats says:

    i thought i was….

  17. Tama says:

Phew…I was so sure that the opening pointed to a KallenXSuzaku. But it seems that our favorite girl is more interested in the Lulu pics. Heh, next episode is likely gonna be more loss of man power for the Brittaniashes =P. I really want Gundam Virtue to be on our side.

  18. Wrathos says:

    Chickens are born to die.

    *cackle*

  19. MTP says:

This episode tugged at my heartstrings a bit. Here’s Lelouche, on his knees, begging for help, accepting his sins… and Suzaku treats him like he did. Does Suzaku ever own up to his own misdeeds?

Good to see The Demon King is back. Should make for a great last 9 episodes.

Though, why didn’t Lelouche just say “Euphie was an accident. Shirley was killed by Rolo without my consent.”?!?!?

  20. Seraphim says:

    “Wait, what?”

C.C and Lelouch are now officially engaged. Didn’t you get the memo?
The wedding is next Sunday. I expect to see you give a better reporting for that event though, No excuses. I don’t wanna hear about Physics tests or tiredness or anything else.

  21. Ukotaku1991 says:

Lelouch should’nt of sent Rolo to save Nunally -_-, but i don’t blame him since he does’nt knw Rolo hates nunally since he saved Lelouch with his geass when he was talking to nunally.

Also Lelouch does’nt knw Rolo killed Shirley cos she said the N word.

Judging from the preview for ep 18, I think Nunally dies from a….explosion? and Lelouch goes crazy. lol

  22. Eh says:

Probably because it’s his character to not make excuses. Because those things happened due to the fact that he didn’t have enough control.

  23. Cat Megex says:

There’s always the possibility of Charles using V.V.’s teleportation powers for whatever reason to pull Nunnally out of harms way (dunno why he’d do that if he plans on destroying and remaking the world, though, ’cause in that situation she’d die either way).

  24. andreas says:

“Though, why didn’t Lelouche just say “Euphie was an accident. Shirley was killed by Rolo without my consent.”?!?!?”

It’s as Suzaku said…taking the blame. What does it matter who did it? It was his fault and making excuses only makes it worse.

Suzaku would’ve killed him if he said like “Duh, i kinda killed your girlfriend by accident. Won’t happen again. Promise.”

  25. Amnestic says:

    V.V.’s teleportation powers

Woah woah woah. What? What teleportation powers?

  26. Sabu113 says:

Future episode: Kallen/Gino you must kill suzaku in order to save Japan!

  27. Tkpenalty says:

A physics test and all you think about is BDSM?

  28. Rololita says:

“He’s riding a Knightmare with specialized janitorial equipment”

Gha ha ha ha ha! XD that’s probably true. Poor what’s-his-name, he’s the ultimate nobody of the Black Knights, never getting a promotion from Zero.

I had a hard time with last ep, didn’t comment since I didn’t feel there was much to be said. What I mean is that it was all to get to this point and beyond. But, this ep was something else. I found the meeting between Suzaku and Lelouch exhilarating, but I do think @Orange has a point in saying that there could have been even more tension between them. And it’s not very satisfying with Lelouch taking ALL the blame onto himself, there is just so much calculation to be done regarding other people (can he really be blamed for Shirley’s death, even if he knew Rolo was/is a liability?). But, it fascinates me to see him bow down before Suzaku, showing some humility at last, just to cast it away in the next moment as he fully quenches the last warmth in his heart for events to come, to keep up the lies to the end.

But, this ep could have done with a clean-up. To much side stories, to little Geass essence. I’d loved to see some kind of build up of events to come when Rolo will play the role of “knight in shining armour” on his “brothers” behalf. Surprise deaths like Shirley’s are a commodity that shouldn’t be overused…Nunnaly should be spared of such a fate…

  29. Amnestic says:

A physics test and all you think about is BDSM?

All I feel when I look back on my physics lessons is a dull pain and the torture I had to sit through :P

  30. Rololita says:

I might just add, I realise, about @Blue’s first post, that it was an echo of my own thought upon that scene. Lelouche tricked the Chinese eunuchs into spilling the truth about themselves, but couldn’t be smart enough to avoid saying too much in a situation that might be used against him? That’s a bit hard to swallow for me…

But that might be the pacing problem @Orange was hinting at, sometimes there’s not enough focus on the thoughts of the characters, but the events are just being pushed forward, or isn’t going anywhere special at all…>_<

  31. cj says:

Yay kallen will be freed next episode, or will escape, also suzaku doesn’t have the balls to bomb lelouch it will probably take some real mind fucking like telling him he raped euphie before telling her to kill all Japanese XP that would really fuck suzaku up.

  32. Kaus says:

Kallen, your time will soon be here!

Her boobs are bigger than her head! @_@

A shallow character introduced late series who will probably amount to nothing and die

First Knight to go down, next or the following episode? Probably a horrible death.

  33. VindicatedSinner says:

Kallens boob is being pushed up, I dont remember where I saw this[dont judge] but I remember watching a medieval movie from school and this really young girl had big breast which my classmates pointed out. Its being pushed up by such a silly dress…..haha. Personally I like the evil lelouch especially last season and episode 14, its bad and all but he was pretty awesome, and next episode he goes nuts?

  34. Skye says:

i got a feeling that nunally somehow, will survive.don’t ask me how but that’s what i think of.and rollo, perhaps he’s the one who’s going to die and if it was not too soon,it’ll be later then.

  35. invAZN says:

I’m calling a tragic ending. Tragic for anyone related to Lelouch that is muahaha.

Seriously though, these last 8 eps are gonna blow our minds. At least, unless Sunrise interferes [zomgwtfbbq!]

I say, Kallen kills Vampire. Xing-Ke and Todou kill Bismarck. And Zino and Anya reveal their connections…

Oh yeah, Schneizel’s gonna release his inner pimp and go berserk on the world.

  36. lilu says:

This episode showed only one thing: Lulu is a liar.

  37. Hikage says:

Based on the preview…I’m really worried about Nunnaly here…

  38. zelknight says:

    @Amnestic
yep, i was referring to the prototype hadron cannons installed in the Avalon

    @lilu
i wouldn’t term it liar. if he was a liar, he would have had made excuses for his sins/supposed sins so as to make him look innocent. i would term it as blame-taker or masochist or a martyr (although coining for the word martyr, he is also to be partly blamed for some of the sins/supposed sins he has committed – like in euphemia’s death, he shouldn’t have had joked about an order which could bring awful results)

if it is about Rollo killing off nunnaly, s/he(lolz) wouldn’t do it for the reason that nunnaly is his sister (I believe in that korean spoiler that Rollo’s sister is nunnaly and the real sister of Lelouch is Anya – good reason for anya switching sides after her memories revert or something when Schneizel announces to the world the identity of Zero [i also believe in this spoiler as Schneizel even said that he has all the cards now – he will utilize them even though his move may be very cheap/underhanded] XD)

  39. Fate says:

    One of the boring episode..

  40. Kaus says:

Based on the preview…I’m really worried about Nunnaly here…

Nevermind Nunnally! Tamaki’s knightmare gets owned! D:

  41. Amnestic says:

This episode showed only one thing: Lulu is a liar.

Well…you can look at it that way. Technically he was responsible for Euphie’s death. Albeit accidentally, he did give her the order to massacre the Japanese. He was also the one who shot her in the end. Shirley is a bit of a grey area. If he hadn’t geassed her in the first place (R1) it might never have turned out like this. He took the easy way out at that point, and it came to bite him in the ass in R2. He couldn’t have counted on Rolo intervening, but Shirley’s actions were still, in effect, partly the fault of Lelouch. Plus it was his ‘brother’ who killed her, so I can see why he’s taking the blame for it. He’s not lying, so much as exaggerating his part in the deaths, and ommitting certain truths (like geassing Euphie was an accident)

    Tamaki’s knightmare gets owned! D:

:( His janitorial equipment is no match for real weapons.

Also, and I know this isn’t speculation or anything, but I found it awesome how the sheath for Excalibur has its own landspinner.

  42. cor says:

    @Amnestic
yep, i was referring to the prototype hadron cannons installed in the Avalon

The Avalon didnt have any back then, the Gawain was firing out of the hatch.

    @lilu
i wouldn’t term it liar. if he was a liar, he would have had made excuses for his sins/supposed sins so as to make him look innocent. i would term it as blame-taker or masochist or a martyr (although coining for the word martyr, he is also to be partly blamed for some of the sins/supposed sins he has committed – like in euphemia’s death, he shouldn’t have had joked about an order which could bring awful results)

He isnt dead so he cant possibly be a martyr ;)

if it is about Rollo killing off nunnaly, s/he(lolz) wouldn’t do it for the reason that nunnaly is his sister (I believe in that korean spoiler that Rollo’s sister is nunnaly and the real sister of Lelouch is Anya – good reason for anya switching sides after her memories revert or something when Schneizel announces to the world the identity of Zero [i also believe in this spoiler as Schneizel even said that he has all the cards now – he will utilize them even though his move may be very cheap/underhanded] XD)

That spoiler is pure bs imo, schneizels statement also doesnt proof anything since both Nunnaly and Anya are on his side atm.

  43. zelknight says:

Avalon installed with hadron cannons statement – false XD yeah I watched again the episode and it was Gawain inside the Avalon haha <— too old to remember actual details lol

@cor yeah so i was thinking of what the term should be hehe and I was referring to martyr here satirically – just an exagerration of what he is doing atm. XD

  44. MTP says:

Suzaku knew he was lying to him, not telling him the full truth. He even stated so himself.

What if Lelouche said something along these lines.

“Due to my actions, Euphie was killed by my hands. I actually meant for Euphie to shoot me to start an uprising of the elevens, but my Geass became stronger and triggered by itself as I was explaining my power and plan to Euphie. At the time, I thought this was my best option. I never wanted this for Euphie, but I accept my sins. I loved Euphemia as well and now she’s yet another person I have lost. Please Suzaku, help Nunnaly. You’re the only one who can.”

Not quite as elegant as Lelouche would say it, but I believe if Lelouche would’ve told the full story, Suzaku might’ve been a bit quicker to release his foot from his head. To me, before Guilford showed up, Suzaku was somewhat willing to let go. He’s very, very torn. Questioning himself, his own resolve…

The way Lelouche said it in the episode, was just lacking. Suzaku knew it. He knew there was more.

But alas, I doubt that would’ve changed much… with the ambush.

  45. Nomad says:

Physics is my worst subject, it requirse differentlevel of thinking.

    http://www.codegeasstv.com

  46. Cat Megex says:

Woah woah woah. What? What teleportation powers?

Apparently V.V. was the one who transported everybody to that formerly-deserted island that just happened to have a Thought Elevator on it back in season one.

Physics is my worst subject, it requirse differentlevel of thinking.

I think physics is fun. Especially calculus-based physics. (Please don’t kill me, people. >_>)

  47. dan says:

I bet Tamaki’s “specialized janitorial equipment” includes a mop and a bucket. I think that he dies next episode though, it looked like he got owned in the ep 18 preview.

  48. GBABH says:

why doesnt lelouch just tells suzaku everthing about the geass and all instead of taking the balme for everything? why do u huv a physics test tommorow? is it not the summer hols for u or something?

i dont get it about tamaki and his equipment?

  49. Amnestic says:

Apparently V.V. was the one who transported everybody to that formerly-deserted island that just happened to have a Thought Elevator on it back in season one.

Ah hah. I was under the impression he had them transported, as in, shipped them, as opposed to actively teleporting them. If he had teleportation, he could have ported out of the Siegfried when it was going down, why not do that? Or he could have dodged Cornelia’s knife, I mean, I know he’s immortal, but it still hurts to get a knife through your forehead. I’m not sold on teleportation, I think he’s just pretty stealthy and no one asks many questions of a crazy little kid with far too long hair.

(Please don’t kill me, people. >_>)

    *Knifes*

  50. Cat Megex says:

I’m thinking it had something to do with the Sword of Akasha and the Thought Elevator that was on the island. (After all, in R2 episode 14 it was shown [well, implied] that it is possible to open the door of a Thought Elevator from the Sword, and as the Sword of Akasha is apparently a device that causes the user’s mind to affect its environment, one possibility is that V.V. temporarily opened the door of that Thought Elevator and used the Sword of Akasha through the open doorway to “think” the people to the island. I mean, it’s not much different from what Charles did inside the Sword, so…. Oh, and also, that might be the basis for how Ragnarok is going to work; that is, Charles will open all the Thought Elevators at once, and will think the world into destruction and then remake it as he wills it to be.)
