comptiq – Ramblings of DarkMirage http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com Anime, Games, J-Pop and Whatever Else Tue, 08 May 2007 13:29:07 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.7.2 Da Capo II anime announced! http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2007/05/08/da-capo-ii-anime-announced/ http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2007/05/08/da-capo-ii-anime-announced/#comments Tue, 08 May 2007 13:29:07 +0000 http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2007/05/08/da-capo-ii-anime-announced/ Continue reading ]]> According to Moon Phase Zakki, the latest issue of Comptiq has revealed that an anime adaptation of D.C. II is in the works. While being terribly vague (a huge understatement on my part) on the details, it seems to me that a 26-episode series is implied. Or maybe it’s just my imagination.

For the uninitiated, Da Capo II is the sequel to the popular bishoujo game Da Capo. Both the Da Capo and Da Capo Second Season anime series are actually based on the first game, leading to much confusion amongst casual fans and the non-hardcore. This time the main character is Yoshiyuki Sakurai who has not one but two sisters unrelated by blood, Otome Asakura and Yume Asakura, the granddaughters of Nemu (heroine of the first game). Oh right, the story also happens to take place 50 years after the first game. Read my past entry for more details.

As everyone should know by now, my favourite D.C. II girl is Nanaka Shirakawa. So here’s a picture of a pillow cover featuring her!

Nanaka

Haha, good stuff. Still with me? Anyway, on a related note, Kadokawa and CIRCUS are working on a PS2 version of Da Capo II called “Da Capo II Plus Situation” (D.C.II P.S). Oh my god I didn’t see that one coming. At all. New story paths will be added and a Comptiq will be polling its readers to determine who gets to be one of the new heroines. It’s got to be either Akane or Iinchou…

Also I forgot to mention this, but I actually own a PS2 now! So yay for me! I’ll get my PS3 as soon as PS4 is released. :)

It’s my birthday present from him… four months late as it is. :P I love Ugetsu’s style. Bakuten makes up for most of the entries, but there are some unique original works by him as well as some pieces based on existing works (such as Saber from F/SN).

I also picked up the latest issues of Newtype and Comptiq. Newtype came from a Fate/stay night booklet while Comptiq came with a Da Capo II pencil board. Ah, less than two weeks left till D.C. II… 楽しみ~

Another Shuffle! Sequel http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2006/03/13/another-shuffle-sequel/ http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2006/03/13/another-shuffle-sequel/#comments Mon, 13 Mar 2006 11:09:26 +0000 http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/?p=99 Continue reading ]]> I actually read about this on someone’s blog a while ago but I can’t remember where. Anyway, Shuffle! is getting a second sequel similar to Tick! Tack! except that it continues from Kaede’s ending instead of Nerine’s. As much as I depise everything about Kaede, as a casual fan of the Shuffle! series I must say that it’s a piece of good news. After all, this means that an Asa sequel (with a Kareha path!?) is not an impossibility… Mmmmm…

Apparently Comptiq has all the scoop on this new game and because I have yet to pick up my April issue, here’s a picture of its cover from the latest issue of Newtype instead.

I wonder what the new game will be called.

I assure you that this is not due to my addiction to WoW but rather the new school term. Ah, school… the single universal constant of pain and sufferings since the dawn of humanity.

I bought most of the stuff I had been waiting for this month over the course of last week. (Three trips to Kinokuniya and one trip to Sunshine Plaza) This should more or less cover my spendings for this month… I hope. (Goddammit, I so want the new Sony Network Walkman)

Stuff

  • Comptiq Feb
  • Newtype Feb
  • Negima Vol.13
  • Kare Kano Vol.21 End
  • Maburaho Vol.2 End

Negima wasn’t very good. But I did take a peak at the latest issue of Shounen Magazine for the current story arc. Although I had no idea wtf was going on based on that single chapter, I can say that the next two volumes will be great.

Kare Kano Vol.21 had the PERFECT ending. I have absolutely no bad things to say about the entire series. Well worth the wait, which by the way was a LOT longer than usual.

In terms of anime, I haven’t been watching much. Fate/Stay Night is still good, Kashimashi is cute and wtf at the same time and Wings of Rean is just ZOMGWTFBBQ period. (You can really see the Yoshiyuki Tomino in it)

Anyway, I’ve been reading quite a bit recently (times otherwise wasted doing nothing of importance at school). Some English titles I’ve recently read or still am reading:

  • The Singapore Story: Memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew
  • 69 by Ryu Murakami
  • Japan: Profile of A Nation from Kodansha International
  • The SAS Fighting Techniques Handbook by Terry White

Yes, I can see many people going WTF at the first item, but I assure you that it is a very enjoyable and intelligent book and that I am looking forward to reading the second volume. No, I am not lying for the benefit of those fine agents from Internal Security who no doubt scrutinize my anti-establishment blog on a regular basis. Fight the power!

Another 180-degree change of topic: I love “WILL” by Chihiro Yonekura!!!

Comptiq – Da Capo Girls Ranking http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2005/11/19/comptiq-da-capo-girls-ranking/ http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2005/11/19/comptiq-da-capo-girls-ranking/#comments Fri, 18 Nov 2005 16:57:54 +0000 http://2pwn.tk/websites/www.darkmirage.com/2005/11/19/comptiq-da-capo-girls-ranking/ Continue reading ]]> I finally got my hands on the latest issue of Comptiq! The store owner recognized me and realized that I have yet to collect a previous issue because I borrowed a friend’s copy to read. しまった! Oh well, I’ll have to pay for it the next time I go there… x_X

Comptiq December 2005

This issue has information on To Heart 2 for PC, Bokutachi ni Tsubasa wa Nai (new game from Navel, creators of Shuffle!), Tomoyo After (new *gasp* 18+ game by Key, the creators of Air and Kanon) and others like the new Pia Carrot game (that makes…five?), Tales of Eternia Online MMORPG and Fate/stay night anime. Joukyou Kaishi! (状況開始っ!) also looks sort of interesting.

Anyway, here are the popularity rankings of the Da Capo girls and their vote counts.

  1. Kotori Shirakawa – 1451
  2. Nemu Asakura – 965
  3. Aisia – 781
  4. Mako Mizukoshi – 474
  5. Miharu Amakase – 459
  6. Sakura Yoshino – 310
  7. Yoriko Sagisawa – 200
  8. Moe Mizukoshi – 131

Kotori forever! Aisia is almost catching up to Nemu… Kind of sad that Tamaki didn’t make the list. D:

Surprisingly, this issue has two pages dedicated to the Xbox 360. Not surprisingly, the only game it bothers to mention is eNCHANT arM, a Japanese RPG. It’s kind of sad for Microsoft that eM’s release date has been delayed and it won’t make it in time for the Japanese 360 launch, which means that the only game that the Japanese are even remotely interested in is going to be left out of the launch list. Will Xbox 360 ever manage to outsell Playstation 2 in Japan? I doubt it.
