Subject: [Eva][FanFic] Pride


I made this as a change of pace.  My website is
www.geocities.com/Tokyo/Gulf/7463.  The story takes place
roughly around the time of Kaoru, but he doesn't appear in this
timeline.  I think you can glean the rest.

Pride

     "Eva-02's activating.  An AT field's in Central Dogma."  The
control room suddenly went crazy.  "Pattern blue.  It's an angel."
    "Where?"
    "It's inside Eva-02.  It's Asuka!"
    "Asuka?  I thought she was still in the hospital.  How can she
be an Angel?"
    "Guten morgan, everyone.  I feel so much better after my short
rest.  You better stay out of my way because nobody's going to stand
between me and mama."  With that, she began flying down, crashing
through all the barriers between her and Terminal Dogma.
    "Eject the entry plug," said Misato.  Did that angel attack make her
go crazy?  But I can't ignore the blue pattern.
    "It's not responding."
    "Target's passed the 4th Layer and descending."
    "We can't cut the power to the linear cable."
    Fuyutsuki said, "Close all the Central Dogma shutters.  Buy us time!"
An evacuation order went out.
    "It's passed the armored shutters."
    "Target has passed the second wall."
    Gendo says, "Send Eva-01 after the target."
    Shinji, upon hearing the news, shook his head and yelled, "It's a lie. 
I won't believe it.  I don't understand." 
    "It's true.  Go after her." Misato said. 
    As Asuka made her way through the gates, she thought to herself, "I
wonder where Baka-Shinji is.  But then he was always so slow." 
    "Eva-01 is descending via Route 2.  Going after target.  About to
confront target." said one of the technicians. 
    Shinji saw the red Eva below him and said, "Why, Asuka?" 
    "I'm going to Mama, and you can't stop me." said Asuka.  "Go away or
I'll stomp on your guts!" 
    "I don't want to hurt you, Asuka." said Shinji.
    "I have no such qualms." She took out her progressive knife.  "Let's see
who's the real Eva pilot." She stabbed him in the shoulder.  He screamed,
then pulled his own and returned the favor, causing her to gasp in pain.
Their free hands reached for each other's neck and squeezed.
    "You're going to lose, Baka-shinji," she said.  "My synchro ratio is
better than ever." 
    "You're going to kill everyone." 
    "I'll do what I want.  I don't care about you, Misato or anyone.  Just
Mama.  She's waiting for me in Terminal Dogma.  I just have to reach her
and she'll . . . I'm either going to find her and prove I'm the number one
pilot or die.  ou're going to have to kill me to stop me, Shinji, but I
don't think you have the guts." 
    "I care about you, Asuka." 
     "Like I care.  I learned to put myself first and you're getting in
the way of what I want." 
    "What is it that you want?" 
    "I'll have proved I'm the best and I'll find peace forever and ever. 
Nothing on earth can give me anything like that, least of all you." 
    Seeing an opening, Shinji stuck the progressive knife in the head of
the red Eva.  Asuka began to scream in pain.  Shinji winced on hearing her
in pain.  "Oh, God." he said.  He involuntarily turned away, when she gave
him a blow to head that broke some of the armor off.  They both fell on
the ground floor of Terminal Dogma.  She got off the ground and ran,
leaving behind a slightly dazed Shinji behind. 
    Asuka managed to reach room where Lilith was hanging and stared at it. 
"Mama?  No, it's a fake."  She turned on her communication link.  "Gendo! 
Where the hell is Mama!!! Well, if I can't be with Mama, then everybody
should die!" But an AT field surrounded Lilith.  "What the hell?" she
says. 
    She looked up to see Rei high above her.  "You bitch!" said Asuka, but
then she was tackled from behind by the Eva-01. 
    Asuka screamed, "I'm going to kill you!  I'm going to kill you!" 
    "Asuka, stop!!" screamed Shinji. 
    She looked towards the cross, the AT field by Rei was gone.  OK,
brain, how can I get to Lilith? she thought.  I'll have to surprise them
both.  She said to her Eva, "Emergency eject the entry plug!" 
    The entry plug shot out of the back of the red Eva.  Shinji didn't
have enough time to catch it, only erect an AT field to knock it away from
Lilith, which it missed only by a few meters.  It arced through the air
and landed with an audible thunk in the shallow end of the LCL pool. 
    "The pattern blue is disappearing.  It's gone." said Hyuuga. 
    Shinji gets as close to the ground as he can and gets out of his EVA
entry plug and opens up Asuka's now dented plug.  Inside, he sees a bloody
Asuka, despair etched in her face. Her neck was broken, twisted in a
strange angle.  He wiped the stray auburn locks, sticky with blood, away
from her face.  "Asuka. . .Asuka! Wake up and call me stupid!  Tell me how
much I suck!  Don't leave me alone like this!  Asuka!"  He held what was
left of her and wept.  But she didn't answer.
