A few weeks ago I was working on a story and these three poems popped
out of my disturbed psyche.  So I thought I'd give them to you.

"Rei"

Hair blue like ice,
Eyes red like fire;
Which is your true soul?
The world can perish in either.


"You fear to awaken..."

You fear to awaken your power.
The strength in your muscles and mind
you surrender to embrace weakness and timidity.
Forgetting your mother's caress, do you not remember
that you can at once be gentle and strong?
You fear to awaken your power.
You let others manipulate you, thinking that weakness
will make them love and respect you.
Forgetting your father's cruelty, do you not realize
that the weak can be pitied, but never loved?
You fear to awaken your power.
Do you retreat from strength because you not want
to become your father?  Or do you fear that,
accepting your darker side, you will become yourself?


"A love poem (after a fashion), by Asuka"

You do not seem to understand,
my darling little Shinji-kun,
the great dilemma of demand
that keeps us from becoming one.
Do you believe that I tease you
because I hate to see your face?
That is a fiction--it's untrue;
Your weakness is the one disgrace
that brings my laughter to your ears.
Your strength I love, when it comes out
I'm gladdened to the point of tears.
When you are strong, I never pout.
But when you're strong I feel so weak
and my past makes my future bleak.
