From: "Platypus3333" **************************************** By platypus3333 platypus3333@yahoo.com http://members.tripod.com/Platypus3333/ It just occurs to me that I have NEVER WRITTEN anything stating that Gainax owns NGE. This...is a bad thing. So here goes: Neon Genesis Evangelion is the property of Gainax & Hideaki Anno: I make no claim of ownership, nor do I use the property for my own personal financial gain. I have no money (see previous sentence); as such, nobody should sue me. I also lack valuable property to sell and/or give up to pay in the event that I am, indeed, sued. Please don't sue me. I'm harmless. I swear. There... **************************************** Parallel Worlds Squared: Prologue **************************************** October 17, 2065 In the abandoned ruins of Tokyo-3, deep under the streets on which gods had once fought, there was a huge complex. NERV. If one were to discover this complex, one would see that the power was on, locked into a never-ending cycle of energy. If one were to continue, continue into the complex, one would hear a sound. If one were to go toward that sound, one would see a video. Alas, no one went in the ruins, and no one saw the video. **************************************** "Hack!" The screen broke into static, then reformed into a blurry image of a woman. "Hello? Hello?" On the bottom right was the message: November 10, 2016. The form of Katsuragi Misato leaned toward the screen with wide eyes. *kkk* "--angel. I repeat, an angel. Raziel." She glanced frantically to her left, searching for something. "Already killed--" *kkkkkkkchhk* "--never had a chance--" *kkkchkhkcckk* "--disguised, never suspected--" *kchfgiiiek* " --thought--" *kkkchk* "--was just a Child, never knew--" *kkkkkkkk* The sound broke off. Misato glanced frantically to the side, mouthing words. "." Her eyes widened as she looked off screen. "--You! You may have killed the rest of them, but--" She screamed as a pale orange octagon obscured the field of vision. *kkkkk* The screen faded to static, then blinked back to the starting point. "Hack!" The video had been cycling for the past 49 years. **************************************** February 13, 2016 7:23 AM You cannot truly expect a 14 year old boy to cope with the pressure of a friend dying. Especially if it's the only friend he has left. Especially if it's his fault. If HE killed his friend. You just can't. Everybody needs friends, friends that are alive and well. Humanity itself is a social existence: for example, were all of man to turn into animal, then what would humanity be? What would define it? The answer is, the same. Humanity would still be humanity, but in a different form. Changing into something else, being something else, does not make you less human than you were before. Humanity is defined, not by shape or form, but the ability to choose, the ability to choose your destiny and have full conscious thought. And if this is the definition of humanity, then what is an angel? --A distorted vision of man, getting closer and closer as time goes by? Does an angel think? Or does it operate completely on animal instinct? Does it choose? Does it have free will? Angels seem to be animals, a form of malformed human, lacking free will and the ability to choose, and something less as a result And if this is the definition of an angel, then what was Kaworu? Can it be possible that each angel is closer to a human than the one before it? Can it be possible that when this evolution reaches a point, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between the angel and the human? And if this is so, one must ask, is it right to kill a human for being human, as one kills an angel for being an angel? Nevertheless, he was a friend: an angel, so close to a human that it is impossible to tell the difference. An angel and a friend to Ikari Shinji when the latter desperately needed one. And you can't truly expect a 14 year old boy to cope with the pressure of a friend dying. Especially if it's the only friend he has left. And when you have nothing, you grasp at what you believe to be something. A boy stood over a bed housing a still form. The only sounds in the room were of her quiet, even breathing. "." "Asuka." He looked at her still face. 'She's beautiful,' he thought. 'Beautiful...' The boy shook his head sadly. "Dammit." "." "." ' "." There was no answer. There never was, not since Arael. Not since the raping of her mind. ".Why did you have to go?" He pulled up a chair and sat down. ".I don't know why, but I miss you." He had heard her screams through the communication link, but he could do nothing. The angel was inside her. For all the power he had in Eva, for all intents and purposes the power of a god, he could do nothing at the time. Nothing but listen as the girl was broken from the inside. "." "Just.come on, hit me or something.call me 'baka' like you always do.anything." There was no response. "Come, on Asuka!" "." He slowly reached out and caressed her cheek. "." Tears slowly came to his eyes. ".You're the only one who never wanted anything from me." He looked up as the door opened. "." A girl walked in. "Ikari. You are needed." She watched as Ikari Shinji stared at her. "." "." He watched her warily. What had happened to her? She had changed, had been different. She looked the same, but in his mind he knew the truth. This was not the Ayanami Rei he had known. "." She stared at him with those piercing red eyes, those eyes that took everything in. And gave nothing. "." ".Is something wrong?" ".No, nothing wrong.nothing at all." Shinji stood up again. He stared down at the prone form before him. ".I'll come soon. Go on ahead." Rei turned and walked out, leaving the two. "." "Asuka.don't you see? Rei is different.worse than before.and.I don't know." He bent down. "They want me again, for who knows what.probably an angel or something.I just don't care anymore." His lips lightly brushed hers, and then he slowly walked out. Sohryu Asuka Langley lay alone in an empty room, silently dreaming of a missing father and a mother holding a doll. A doll. END PROLOGUE
